Congress is on vacation throughout the month of August--make their time off count!
Most observers expected that by the summer Republicans would have repealed the ACA; that it is still law is testimony to the activists who sat-in and protested at Congressional offices throughout the country. This included activists from disability organization ADAPT who were arrested outside the office of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell; and many affecting stories that constituents, ordinary men and women, told their Senators at townhalls.
But there are other battles to be fought--and won. MoveOn.org is organizing Resistance events during the Congressional recess throughout the country. Have a look at the map on their website--it is dotted with events that stretch into September.
Some are townhalls, for those Senators and Reps that are willing to meet their constituents. For those that are not, the organizers are hosting rallies outside their offices.
The Resistance Recess website includes a search tool that helps you find nearby events. Check it out, and make your opinion count.
